Advasense develops innovative and outperforming high resolution CMOS Image Sensor (CIS) products, targeting the mobile phone mass market. These products pack millions of pixels in tiny camera module at a competitive price.
Mobile phone manufacturers are demanding increased image sensor quality and higher resolutions, while keeping the same physical dimensions for the image sensor. As a result, smaller pixel sizes, with inherent light sensitivity and dynamic range issues, are being developed to enable higher resolutions. Advasense's patented Feedback Controlled Pixel™ (“FCP™”) technology overcomes three key challenges associated with ensuring high picture quality using small pixels, to enable vivid, colorful images:
True Dynamic Range™ – enables significantly enhanced low-light performance while preventing over-saturation of bright objects in the same frame, giving richer, sharper images of real world scenes with a dynamic range of more than 70dB (FCP™ enables much higher FWC).
On-Chip True Image Stabilization™ - enables longer exposure times by correcting for hand movement (“shaking”), generating sharper images in low light conditions subsequently enhancing the user’s experience.
True Colors - significant red-color crosstalk reduction with higher red quantum efficiency (“QE”) for vivid colorful images (FCP™ enables real deeper PhotoDiode).
Advasense introduced its 1.4u FCP™ based 5Mpixel imager the ASIO5 in 2009. It was demonstrated to key customers and strategic partners and received very good response. The ASIO5 demonstration video clip can be found at: http://www.advasense.com/products_technology_demo.html . The ASIO5 is housed in tiny camera module with Auto Focus (AF), measuring only 8.3X8.3mm (see the enclosed figure).

The company is developing new generations of the FCP technology that pave the way to sub micron pixel size with excellent image quality. A 12Mpixel imager with 0.9u pixel size can be housed in 1/4" optical camera module – the same physical size used for a 5Mpixel 1.4u pixel imager (see the graph showing main stream resolutions and pixel sizes):

Advasense is a privately held fabless semiconductor company, founded in Q4 2004. The company counts about 30 people most of them are engineers with expertise in diversified areas such as: Analog design, Digital Design, Electro-Optical, Image Signal Process, CIS Process engineering, Hardware, Software and camera module design. Both the management team and the technical teams are experienced in the commercialization of CE silicon products – from design through production to sales.
The company has changed its business model during the economic downturn of 2009 and finances itself by commercializing its FCP™ (selling non-exclusive licenses to strategic partners). The funds are used for the development of new CIS technologies and products.
