This senior position is responsible, in most cases, for one of two distinct aspects of the management of a Division's Marketing efforts 1) The "tactical" marketing effort, which deals with the ongoing efforts of Applied Materials to gauge, determine or foster specific customer interest in Applied products or services, and to deliver those products/services to fill the customer need in a timely, profitable manner. These activities include managing customer accounts, product schedules, product pricing and discounting policy, customer demonstrations and site visits, and all necessary contact with the direct sales force
2) The "strategic" marketing effort, which deals with the efforts of Applied Materials to pinpoint the future needs of the customer base, based upon available information and trends, and translate those needs into a strategy which can be
utilized by the Engineering force to bring new, profitable, long-lived products to bear on the market. These efforts can include, but are not limited to, market analysis, visits to customer sits to gather information, compilation of information relayed by the field sales or marketing groups, contact with design engineering teams to work on new product strategies, and initial implementation of strategies developed.
Responsibilities Provide intelligence about customers & technology and integrate product resources to propose action plan to meet future requirement. Focus on specific product development strategy, competitive updates, market requirement assessment and market communication. Ensure that Applied Materials' market position is optimized for each product, via timely product introduction, aggressive account penetration, appropriate pricing and discounting tactics, and all other appropriate measures necessary. Ensure the timely response to all customer inquiries, requests for quotes, specials and other specific requests in a manner which will allow Applied Materials to capitalize on available opportunities. Provide product and marketing support to the direct Sales force, as needed, ensuring a synergistic account approach and optimization of all opportunities for account penetration. Develop Marketing plan which determines the target market for Applied Materials' products and services. In conjunction with other Division personnel, ensure the successful development of products which meet forecasted Customer needs and Applied Materials' product strategies/goals. Ensure the adequacy of current product lines to meet forecasted Customer needs, and determine necessary actions to fulfill those needs, including modification of existing products, processes, etc., as needed. Where possible, enhance product life to optimize profit margins. Provides leadership to subordinates in meeting department, organizational and company goals and objectives with consideration for safety, quality, productivity and cost. Develops personnel to include training and career development; manages the performance management process to include the development of team and individual goals, implementing employee development plans, and coaching; manages the employee selection, hiring, reward and discipline processes. Manage departmental budget and administrative systems. Ensure that area Management and relevant company personnel are informed of progress in specific, related areas of concern, via reports, meetings, and other contacts. Prepares status and progress reports; establishes and tracks KPIs. Manages and develops multiple projects/programs for the Product Marketing organization; and manages risk exposure to the division.

Required Qualifications:
Skills Strong interpersonal, leadership and staff management skills Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills Strong problem solving, analytical and troubleshooting skills Very computer literate, detail oriented, exercises mature judgment Ability to work in a team and independently Ability to influence other people; ability to act as mentor, lead and/or manage projects/programs and people Strong ability to have insight to customer needs, identify and implement creative solutions for customers Ability to negotiate complex cross organizational issues involving multiple business partners. Ability to strategically plan for the division needs. Demonstrated multi-cultural skills, travelling needed. Education BS level degree in Marketing, Bus. Admin., or a technical discipline. at least 8 years of previous Marketing experience within a technical capital equipment industry. At least two years in Managerial roles. In-depth knowledge of the market for Applied Materials' or related products. Previous work experience in R&D and senior Marketing positions, general business experience and/or technical experience in a semiconductor company; and business management experience.
